This picturesque vineyard established by Russell and Linda Hubbard is situated 19Kms along the scenic Scotsdale Road tourist Route in Denmark, W.A. It’s valley aspect with rich Karri loam’s and gravely soils combined with the north facing slopes of the Bennett Ranges makes this site an ideal location for growing cool climate wine grapes.
On the 1st January 2000 the Hubbard Family exchanged the hustle and bustle of the city for the pristine environment of Denmark. Their dream was to produce premium wines and to accomplish this they adopted a “No Compromises” ethos.
2007 saw the official opening of our Cellar Door and Reception area which was constructed by Kosters Construction of Albany. They exceeded our expectations by doing an amazing job. The scope of works required complex engineering by combining two existing buildings to create a new barrel room, main winery work area as well as the cellar door, commercial kitchen and function area. The work was done to such a high calibre that we never had to call Kosters back to do any maintenance. Its has been, and continues to be everything we ever wanted.
By late 2000 they had completed planting the vineyard to Merlot, Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The Hubbard’s believe there is middle ground between organic and contemporary viticultural practices and have proven that by combining both disciplines sensibly, they can produce stunning fruit.
Having planted the Estate Vineyard they then constructed an Estate Winery in which their winemaker Mr. John Wade has complete control throughout the winemaking process. James Halliday quotes John Wade as being “arguably the most experienced Winemaker in Western Australia”.
The combination of Russell and Linda’s passion, hard work and total commitment to viticultural excellence and John’s unrivalled winemaking ability is evidenced by their premium wines.
…on the left are the Merlot vines as babies and just 4 years old. They are now 24 years old and all grown up.
